Description

We will start the tour of Shining Salalah by a visit of the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, a sober and elegant example of Islamic architecture, built by the late Sultan Qaboos. Then we will take you at the Archaeological Park of Al Baleed (UNESCO site), ancient capital of Dhofar, to visit the Museum of the Land of Frankincense. In this little museum are collected the objects that made Oman as it is today. After a panoramic tour through the typical plantations of bananas, coconuts and papayas that runs along the city we will stop at one of the many fruit stalls along the road for refreshments at 0km. We will pay a must visit to the souk where all the main products of the region are sold, in particular you can find the many variety of frankincense and perfumed oils.

Route

Salalah is the main city of the Governorate of Dhofar. Salalah have a long history and a dominant role in the past and present economy of Oman. A long band of farms runs parallel to the coast, irrigated by the rich underground waters.
